Over Four Years of Turmoil is Soon Ending

Started by Shey · 10 months ago

It’s hard to believe but this journey, this tumultuous journey, is almost over. I started my part-time undergraduate program in IT Management at Ryerson in January 2004. Part-time because I had a plan for the next 5 years; a plan I knew would either elevate me or crush me.

  • Shey, that was such an uplifting and encouraging story. I've been down the same road to an extent as my masters is in a field completely unrelated to anything i do now.

Best wishes to you and your gorgeous wife.

  • Hi there Shey!
Rick from Twitter (http://twitter.com/rickmahn) here. Congrats on finishing up school - something I wish I had done, but didn't have the presence of mind to do at the time. Having goals and keeping them in the plan is always a challenge and I'm glad it's working for you. I've always had trouble sticking to the "plan", but have enjoyed the ride so far.

On a side note, I really like your blog layout, and your writing style. I'm thinking of coming up with a new design for my blog and may want to get a quote and/or design concept from you when the time comes in a few months.

    Regards,
    Rick Mahn

  • This was a great post Shey. Thank you for sharing your story. I think it's always good to read about another person's experience on any blog -- as I'm sure it relates to many people, myself included. I for example, started off in Bio-medical sciences and kept changing career paths!

Despite the fact that I think during my four years of university, I felt like I was going insane. Over the 4 years after I graduated I still regard my years in university quite fondly when I really changed and grew as a person and essentially -- had the opportunity move forward and define myself and my role -- whatever it is or will be in this world. I think you'll definitely look back fondly on this period of time because of all the changes in your life -- and all of your perseverance or persistence to push forward those changes.

Best of luck on your final! You'll be stepping into the next stage in life :) For most people, I usually just refer to it as paying off debts.

  • @Beth I know you'll be looking forward to finishing it — that's quite an accomplishment! Thanks!

@Rick Thanks for the compliments! Yes, it's very hard to stay on track with "the plan". But I try to remind myself of the rewards of getting to those goals and that usually helps. Anytime you need something, just let me know :)

@Ehren You're right I think I will enjoy the memories. Now when I receive a challenge, I'm sure I can use the same drive to overcome it and anything else that comes my way.

Thank you all for your well wishes!
